The AMS Board of Directors is delighted to announce the appointment of Noriko Manabe to the role of AMS Treasurer.
Noriko Manabe has an M.B.A. from Stanford, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst with 18 years’ experience in the investment industry, including stints as a ranked analyst in Institutional Investor while at JP Morgan, a top-ranked institutional salesperson in the Greenwich survey while at Morgan Stanley, and in portfolio management. During this time, she also held management positions in which she was responsible for the strategy and budgeting of units. |
Prior to joining the investment industry, she worked in management consulting at McKinsey and Company, where she gained skill in strategic analysis. Additionally, she has 17 years’ experience working on finance or investment-related committees for academic societies, having served 17 years on the Investment Committee at the Society for Ethnomusicology (SEM), where her two-year elected term as Treasurer will end in October 2020. She also served on the original investment committee for the Society for Music Theory, for which she co-wrote the investment policy, and currently serves on the finance committee for the Association for Asian Studies. Professor Manabe currently serves on the AMS' Publications Committee and is a member of the Cold War and Music, Ecocriticism, Global East Asian Music Research, Ibero-American Music, and Popular Music Study Groups.
